Monitoring the effectiveness of the optimizations
In level 1, the optimizations are mainly of the "quick wins" type (see 1Ox practices). So two metrics in particular can help to represent this:
- Monthly costs before/after (Note that for reserved upfront, the upfront cost should ideally be "monthlyized" to facilitate the comparison).
- Average usage of reserved instances (comparing for example with an expected threshold of 90%)
